29 October 2025, Malé, Maldives – The DIGITAsia Training of Trainers (TOT) Programme concluded successfully at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, marking a major milestone in strengthening digital transformation and inclusive education initiatives across Asia.
The final sessions brought together 54 participants from partner institutions in the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia under Work Package 2 of the DIGITAsia project. Participants engaged in the Capstone Project Workshop, where they presented redesigned learning modules that integrated Education 5.0 and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles. The interactive sessions enabled trainers to exchange feedback, enhance their digital and inclusive teaching approaches, and collaboratively prepare for the final showcase, symbolising the successful completion of the TOT programme.
A Certificate Awarding Ceremony followed, celebrating the achievements and dedication of the trainers who successfully completed the programme.
The afternoon sessions focused on forward planning and implementation. Session 8 – Training the Teachers (Plan & Milestone), led by the University of Peradeniya (UoP) and partners, outlined clear plans, milestones, and next steps for rolling out DIGITAsia training across participating institutions. Session 9 – Pilot Plan & Implementation Plan, presented by the Maldives National University (MNU), Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (VC), and the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM), introduced a comprehensive Piloting Methodology and Implementation Guide to assist educators in integrating digital transformation within their teaching practices.
The programme concluded with a meeting between Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ senior management and project partners, focusing on strategies to sustain digital transformation and institutional capacity building. The day ended with a campus tour, showcasing Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s modern facilities and commitment to innovation in education.
The DIGITAsia Training of Trainers Programme has successfully strengthened regional collaboration and capacity building in higher education, empowering educators to lead inclusive, technology-enabled, and future-ready learning ecosystems across Asia.
