On June 13, 2024, H.E. Mr. Bater, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, made a significant visit to the Chinese Language Centre at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. He was accompanied by H.E. Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Wang Lixin. This visit underscored the strengthening educational and cultural ties between China and the Maldives.
During his visit, Mr. Bater was warmly received by the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's senior executives, faculty members, and students. He was given a tour of the Q.I Library, the Chinese Language Centre Class Room and office areas. The Chinese Language Centre is a three-partner collaboration between Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, and Chang’an University and Hunan Mass Media and Vocational and Technical College from China, under an agreement between Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ and the Chinese International Education Foundation. The centre was inaugurated on 28 September 2020 and is set to launch its programmes in November.
Dr. Ali Najeeb, Vice Rector of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, gave the welcome remarks in a special ceremony held in the Q.I Campus Main Hall, officially welcoming Mr. Bater to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. This was followed by a comprehensive presentation by the Director of the Chinese Language Centre, Professor Ma.
The event, attendees were treated to various captivating Chinese cultural performances, which also included a live Chinese calligraphy performance by the talented students of Villa International High School and Gateway International School. These performances showcase the learning outcomes of Chinese learners and serve as a testament to the vibrancy and richness of Chinese language and culture that the Chinese Language Centre of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has brought to the locals of Maldives.
The visit of Mr. Bater to the Chinese Language Centre at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ marks a milestone in the bilateral relations between China and the Maldives, reaffirming the commitment of both nations to deepen educational and cultural ties.
